Overview

The new state-of-the-art Outpatient Department (OPD) at Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar is a significant milestone in the hospital’s expansion and a critical advancement in healthcare infrastructure on this live, acute hospital campus

Encompasses a gross floor area of 1,700m2, the new OPD delivers 19 general consulting rooms, along with specialised spaces for Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, and Dermatology, alongside dedicated rooms for Dermatology Bath Therapy/Photo Therapy, ECG, Phlebotomy, Podiatry, and Virtual Clinics.

Developed at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the new OPD building integrates low-energy, sustainable design features with layouts optimised for social distancing flexibility. This forward-thinking approach not only meets the current demands of healthcare delivery, but also positions the facility to adapt to future public health needs.
