Overview
The Polaris Building, located at DCU’s Glasnevin Campus, is a cutting-edge facility dedicated to innovation and collaboration. Spanning 10,000 square metres, it houses DCU’s School of Health & Human Performance and supports over 3,000 additional STEM students, enhancing the university’s global reputation in Science, Computing, and Engineering.
The Polaris Building features advanced facilities, including a Robotics Lab, Mechatronics Lab, and Immersive Visualisation Suite, fostering active learning and interdisciplinary collaboration. Key spaces like the High Performance Lab, Life Lab, and Movement Lab support sports research, health literacy, and community engagement using state-of-the-art technology.
Sustainability was central to delivery of this project, achieving a Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) status with an A2 Energy Rating, this Future Tech building is supported by heat pump technology and 300m² of rooftop solar panels. The building adheres to Energy Efficient Design (EED) principles and boasts a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
